The Idea Book
Authors have journals. Illustrators have sketchbooks. What about author/illustrators? Below is what I keep: a large scrapbook full of patterns, inspiration, drawings, writings, and 99.9% of the ideas that'll never-ever be published.
Where do you store your ideas?

Wow...thank you SO much for giving us a glimpse into your idea book, John!
That is mind-blowingly cool. LOVE IT. Thanks for sharing. Now off I go to buy myself a new journal.
What a treat to be able to see these! Thanks for taking the time and energy to post these, John. :) You must keep a few notebooks and sketchbooks going at any one time and then go through them to pull parts to put into the idea book, right? Fascinating peek into how you work!
John...I really enjoyed getting a look at your idea book. Beats my "box o' ideas". Thanks for the peek. I'm feeling inspired to create one of my own.
Thanks, and Hooray for inspiration! I use sketchbooks and journals and backs of receipts and whatever can be found to doodle on, and then it goes into a pile in a drawer, and then put into the scrapbook. There used to be an attention to theme, but it was too hard to organize so now it Just Goes :)
Your idea journal looks amazing - great idea. My sketches and story ideas are scattered in various notebooks in different drawers and boxes. I've given up trying to remember the concepts - let alone where everything is. I love the idea of compiling them together. Thanks.
