Q. Where can I meet kidlit/YA writers and illustrators?
MEETING OTHER CHILDREN'S BOOK WRITERS & ILLUSTRATORS IN PERSON:
- Join CANSCAIP (Canadian) or the SCBWI (Canadian and U.S.). Look for local chapters. Attend conferences.
MEETING OTHER CHILDREN'S BOOK WRITERS & ILLUSTRATORS ONLINE:
- There are many kidlit/YA types on Twitter, Google+, Facebook and other social media communities. Just do a search for terms like "kidlit" or "picture books" or "YA writer."
- There are also many excellent online writing communities. Some are specifically for children's book writers and illustrators while others are general writing communities with sub-message boards for specific genres and ages.
Just a few:
Verla Kay's Message Boards For Children's Writers & Illustrators (also known as the "Blue Boards" and are now part of the SCBWI website)
